Novelty Burnout Trapeze Dress

Two layers doing two different jobs. The burnout overlay is sheer in places and solid in others, so the pattern reveals itself as you move; underneath, a smooth silky knit underdress keeps everything opaque where it needs to be. The result has depth without weight. A mock neckline and three-quarter sleeves give the top half structure, and an opening at the back panel keeps it from feeling buttoned-up.
